This is what a rundown looks like for a CBS Early Show Segment
This was new to me, and I’m always interested by the internal processes by other businesses, so I figured I’d share.
The producer of our segment talked with us by phone the week before to talk about what we’d show, most of the rest of the conversations happened over email, and one final run-through meeting in NYC a few days before we were to tape. This was the summary he wrote up the day before to get everyone on the crew on the same page.

NOTES TO ANCHOR:
Kelly and Amit will be interviewed together—Kelly more the artsy projects, Amit for the techie stuff.
There will be a lot of props on the table….many will not be talked about (for time) but will help with the backdrop look.
-We begin with Kelly—-she will show us anchor pictures being printed on edible sugar paper…printed on an inject printer using food coloring based ink. You will be able to paste your on picture on a cupcake. (peel and stick)
-Kelly will briefly show your several other items that can be made from digital photos: including pasting your prints on a lamp shade, printing on canvass or other cloth paper which can be sewn. (She also has cloth dolls of each of the anchors)
-Amit will show you how to make a portable tripod for your camera using just a screw and a bottle cap. The cap with twist onto any soda or water bottle giving you an instant shooting platform.
-Amit will also show how to use an old translucent film canister to make an instant flash diffuser (should on take 10 seconds to show)
-If there is time, Amit will also hold a peep hole up to the camera for a cheap fisheye lens. (also about 10 seconds)
-Kelly will have her dog Molly which will be wearing a doggy cam. It will be rigged to go live to the studio for a POV. If it doesn’t work, there will be a short vo of footage from Molly taken in Prospect Park.
_ Finally Kelly will pull up her sleeve and show you a Tattoo of Dave she is wearing. The printable tattoo paper will be on the table to hold up.
BACKGROUND (max. ONE wire writethrough):
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Hard drives are the new attics. Memories get filed away in a digital “shoebox,” rarely to be seen again. But it doesn’t have to be that way. In PHOTOJOJO!: Insanely Great Photo Projects and DIY Ideas (Potter Craft, September 2009) you’ll find 50 projects you can gift or make for yourself-from a photo snow globe or a temporary tattoo to a wall-sized mural, or a photo chandelier. Most of the projects require only basic crafting skills like cutting and gluing, so just about anyone can make them. A great opportunity to reach both photography buffs as well as the crafting set, PHOTOJOJO! represents a fresh and approachable take on a newly emerging category: photo crafts
THEIR STORY
Amit was walking down the street one day in Brooklyn with his pal Kara when they started talking about all the fun stuff you can do with photos. Kara knew about all sorts of stuff that Amit didn’t, and Amit knew about stuff Kara didn’t.
Woah! They each realized there’s so much insanely cool stuff you can do with photos that they didn’t even know about!
So they ran to Gorilla coffee, hunkered down with two iced beverages and a rice krispie treat, and made a list of all the great photo ideas they could think of.
It was a long list.
A few months later, Photojojo was born. Ever since, Amit and a host of contributors have been spending their days looking for the coolest photo stuff ever, and sending it out twice a week!

Photojojo Just Wants You to Have Fun
By Rik Fairlie
Are you lacking imagination as the winter doldrums set in, using your digital camera for the same ol’ snap and shot? If so, check out Photojojo, a D.I.Y. site that serves up fun and easy projects that help you learn photography tricks while engaging your imagination.
Photojojo sends out an e-mail blast twice a week with a new project. I signed up this week and got my first newsletter, a youngster-oriented “supersecret” photo project for kids.
The photo newsletter included ideas like taking photos from the ground up to make everything look huge, creating optical illusions that “shrink” a friend, and simply keeping a photographic diary of your day.
All newsletters are maintained on the site in chronological order, so you can browse the archive or enter a search term to get results from the projects as well as the site’s friendly user forums.
Photojojo is right in sync with these recessionary times: all projects are inexpensive. In fact, many require only time and a digital camera (and, in some cases, chutzpah). One project provides guidelines on conquering the art of the impromptu street portrait. First strike up conversations with strangers (tip: act like a car salesman), then ask them to stand in front of a color poster board for a photo. Another project provides three ways to erase pesky tourists from your vacation photos (that’s a little more complicated but it doesn’t have to involve expensive applications like Photoshop).
Photojojo also provides advice on maintaining your hardware. One project, for example, is a primer on how to clean a D.S.L.R. sensor. The writer offers three alternatives, as well as tips on keep your sensor free of sensor dust in the first place (clean your body cap before putting it on the camera) and what you should definitely not do when cleaning the sensor (can the compressed air).
The writing is a lot more entertaining than your digital camera manual. So go ahead, play around and let your imagination control the shutter.

LIVE SHOT OF PROJECT BE MADE
Coming up….some really nifty ideas on what to do with those hundreds—-even thousands—-of digital photos living on your computer’s hard drive.
LIVE SHOT OF PROJECT BEING MADE
Coming up ——some great Do It Yourself ways to finally use those photos you’ve been storing in your digital Shoe box. The authors of Photojojo will be showing us their latest photo-craft ideas to turn memories into things we can use around the house.
SUGGESTED LEDE: A lot of us have been snapping away at everything since we first got our digital cameras. Most of our memories end up in the new attic…..our computer’s hard drive. Well, that’s about to change.
(INSERT BOOK ANIMATION)
This morning we have with the co-authors of a new book…. PHOTOJOJO!: Insanely Great Photo Projects and DIY Ideas.
Amit (AH-meht) Gupta and Kelly Jensen have been collecting ideas on how to use our digital cameras and photos from all over and put the best of them together in their new book.
