How do you measure page load speed?
We’re looking for a good tool to test page load speed across multiple connections. We don’t want to load test the website (ie. how many users can be on at once before it gets slow). We want to test how long a page takes to load and render as it would in a real browsers, done many times to average out network blips, etc. Any suggestions?

Help me with my Wifi issue and I'll give you $20!
I’ve been having an intermittent Wifi problem with MacBook Pro that’s driving me crazy. If you’re the first to reply with a fix, I’ll give you $20! The symptoms: Unusably slow internet at work (router supplied by Sonic.net) Fast internet at home (Linksys router) The problem is intermittent, but when it occurs, nothing I do can shake it, and I end up using my Sprint USB...

Wanted: One Excellent Roommate →
There’s a room available in my San Francisco apartment (Mission district)… The apartment is on 21st and Folsom, you know how close that is to everything so I don’t need to tell you. It is on the second (of two) floors, and has high ceilings, maybe 13 feet? It was refurbished before we moved in and has hardwood floors, tile bathrooms (two!), a skylight, a small back patio. The...

– iFixit. Wow. I hadn’t bothered to do the math in my head, so I didn’t realize how impressive that was until now. That’s insane. If we didn’t have proof right here in front of us, I’d insist that 2.5W total power consumption for a computer with a brightly backlit 9” LCD while playing videos and...

Some Queries Prompt Google To Offer Suicide... →
This is only the second time Google has added such guidance on troubling search terms, Dr. Roni Zeiger, chief health strategist for Google, said in an interview. A few months ago, the search engine began providing a phone number for the national poison control hotline after searches like “poison emergency.” Try searching “poison emergency” Is this a good thing. I’m not so...

Affogato's on the front page of our local paper! →
The Alameda Journal carried a front-page story today about Affogato, Court and Sumul’s company that created the iPhone apps Strategery and Top Shelf Drinks, among other cool things. The article’s titled, “Designer gears up for iPad launch,” and it begins with a description of what Sumul… My pal Sumul makes the sweet iPhone (soon to be iPad) game Strategery. Congrats on the press, dude!

ideawhen: Amazon.com is full of GENIUSES! →
So I was shopping at Amazon the other day (the real-world store, not the online one) and noticed they had these new shopping carts. They looked just like normal grocery store shopping carts, except under the handle they had a bulk of plastic and a little screen. The screen showed a little map of the store, with a dot for where you were. I guess it used some kind of in-store GPS-like thing....
