The Internet should only work from 9am to 8pm
Over beer tonight, Fabian was talking about how stores used to close at 6pm everyday, and are still closed on Sundays in Germany, but that things are changing. Now grocery stores are open until 10, so people are there at 9:30 at night. So people need to work late to staff the store into the night, and you’re shopping when you could be doing something more enjoyable. Overall, maybe everyone...

abangupjob: I’ve been into Oliver Sacks for some time now, ever since I read that book of his with the description of synesthesia in the intro (which one was that again?). via Gothamist Oliver Sacks is so awesome. One my dad’s cousins publishes a medical journal in India with her hubby. They flew to NYC to interview Oliver last year and had a big crush on him afterward. If you’re...

I’m hanging out with Mareen the day I arrive (who is awesome and is gonna pick me up from the airport and come to Photokina with me the next day — Thanks, Mareen!!) and with Fabian sometime during the week....

The Radar
tmblg: I really miss the old Tumblr Radar. I think the new Explore section is neat, but it isn’t as consumable; you have to click around way too much to get to the interesting stuff. I loved the simplicity of the old radar. There are days where I’m way too busy to keep up to date with my dashboard, and the Radar offered a nice quick way to get a taste for the day’s posts. I’m not feeling the...

Life goals (9/10/08)
a quick draft. (not conclusive or ordered.) - Make things that make lots of people happy, including me. - Find a nice girl. Fall in love. Start a family. - Make enough money that I don’t need to worry about it. And enough to take my family and friends on awesome vacations. Nice to have - a dog - free time to read, travel, think, and cook. - a personal assistant

Welcome to the Hotel 747 →
dailymeh: When a jumbo jet dies (and plenty of them do these days), it’s usually sold for scrap or sent to bake in the desert until the end of time. But Swedish entrepreneur Oscar Dios has a better idea for the 30-year-old junker he bought — turn it into a hostel. Turning an old plane into a place to spend the night is cool. But turning it into a place where we can afford to spend the night is...

Amir was in my dream
I slept late today and got woken up by a bunch of voicemails and I only remember one dream, but it was a weird one. I went to the bank with a friend to meet my new bank-person (banker?) and he was Amir. Except he was like 1.5x the size of Amir (not fat, just big — taller and wider in all dimensions.) But he had the same glasses. Anyway, he was very serious and seemed like a good banker. He...

Worthwhile attacks on your inbox
2arrs2ells: I’m finally jumping on the “newsletters that don’t suck” bandwagon. myopenbar is amazing, if you live in one of the five cities they cover.  Just found photojojo (in my last post!) and it looks amazing. I was less enthused by thrillist… it felt pretty spammy, got filtered pretty quickly. We’re a worthwhile attack on your inbox! YES!
